Rachel Baylor Named to ASUN All-Academic Team

Rachel Baylor, a USC Upstate senior forward, was named to the ASUN All-Academic Team, conference officials announced this afternoon.

Baylor, a native of Greensboro was named to the team for the second consecutive season after becoming the first player in Upstate history to be selected the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015. She is the first player in program history to appear on the ASUN All-Academic Team multiple times and the second to earn a spot on the team, joining former goalkeeper Sarah Plantz who earned the distinction in 2011.

"This honor is well deserved," head coach Tyson John said. "She sets the perfect example of managing an academic and athletic career. We look forward to seeing what her future holds."

Baylor completed her career with 69 games played, 46 starts and scored seven goals with two assists. She currently holds a 3.79 grade-point average and is majoring in Spanish. This season, Baylor played in all 17 games and made 14 starts with eight shots.

The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
