Dvashe Moore Chosen for Four-Day Global Discovery in Montreal, Canada

Dvashe Moore of Spartanburg is one of three USC Upstate students participating in a four-day Global Discovery program in Montreal, Canada.

The group left on Memorial Day, May 26, accompanied by French professor, Dr. Araceli Hernandez-Laroche.

The group will visit North America's largest French-speaking city with an itinerary that includes visits to Old Montreal, the Port, McGill University, Mont Royal, Botanical Gardens, Notre-Dame Basilica, and many other sites of historical and cultural interest.

Every year, the Global Discovery Program selects a group of students to experience an international destination as an introduction to Study Abroad. Sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs and the Center for International Studies, the travel award received by each student covers all expenses for the trip. The awards were based on a competitive process that included an essay, faculty recommendations, and personal interviews.

"Since study abroad is such an educational and life-changing experience, it's important to ensure that as many students as possible have access to the world beyond our borders," Araceli said. "It will be my pleasure to introduce these students to French-speaking Canada and Montreal."

Upon their return, each student will prepare a photo/essay presentation about the experience.
