Christine Mulcahy Receives University of South Carolina Upstate Foundation Scholarship

2014 Mar 7

Christine Mulcahy of Chapin is one of 69 students to be awarded a scholarship by the University of South Carolina Upstate Foundation.

Mulcahy received the Water Environment Association of South Carolina (WEASC) "Legacy of Learning" Scholarship. Mulcahy graduated from Chapin High School and is a sophomore majoring in biology.

"These privately funded scholarships are created and supported by alumni, current faculty and staff, retirees, friends and corporate partners of USC Upstate," said Bea Walters Smith, director of development and foundation scholarships. "Each scholarship has specific criteria and awards up to $2,500 per year."

A separate application is required for these scholarships and the application is available online at www.uscupstate.edu/foundationscholarships from November 1- February 1 on the USC Upstate Financial Aid website. Students who are eligible for these scholarships are notified in the summer months and are invited to meet their scholarship donors at a University event every fall.

The Foundation awarded more than $100,000 during the 2013-2014 academic year.
