Abigail Millete Named ASUN Player of the Week

2017 Mar 27

USC Upstate senior catcher Abigail "Abbie" Milletewas recognized by the ASUN Conference on Monday afternoon as its Softball Player of the Week following her performance last week in five home games against N.C. State and Lipscomb.

Millete came up in the clutch for Upstate as it swept N.C. State in a midweek doubleheader before opening conference play by winning two out of three against Lipscomb. The senior hit .357 (5-for-14) with one home run and three RBI, while posting a .571 slugging percentage and .400 on-base percentage.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native compiled a .400 average at the plate on Mar. 22 as the Spartans earned a pair of wins over N.C. State by scores of 9-1 and 9-0 with both games lasting five innings. In the ASUN opener on Mar. 25 against Lipscomb, Millete hit her first career walk off homer, a three-run blast, in the bottom of the eighth to give Upstate the 4-1 victory. She added another hit in game two of the twin billing that helped the Spartans take the series with a 2-1 win.

The catcher also guided the Upstate pitching staff in only allowing five runs combined in the five games.

Millete picks up her first career ASUN Player of the Week honor and is the third Spartan this season to receive a weekly recognition from the conference. Lexi Shubert (Feb. 13) and Holly McKinnon (Mar. 13) were both selected ASUN Pitcher of the Week earlier this year.
